Taste of Stones River
More than forty restaurants and vendors took part in the fifth annual Taste of Stones River held on Saturday, August 20 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Belk parking lot of The Avenue Murfreesboro.
Restaurants and food vendors included: Bar-B-Cutie, Blue Agave, Chili’s, Chuy’s, Coca-Cola, DET Distributing, Donut Country, Edible Arrangements, Embassy Suites/Gateway Grille, Entenmann’s, Fanatics Sports Bar, Five Senses, Fulin’s Asian Cuisine, Funky Munky Shaved Ice, Genghis Grill, Gigi’s Cupcakes, Goodness Gracious Catering & Café, Hooters, Longhorn Steakhouse, Jason’s Deli, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, McAlister’s Deli, Mimi’s Café, Mi Tierra Mexican Restaurant, Newk’s Express Café, Office Depot, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, Pisghetti’s Greek and Italian Café, Papa John’s Pizza, Publix Super Markets, Puleo’s Grille, Purity Dairies, Reddy Ice, Sam’s Sports Grill, Smoothie King, Stones River Total Beverage, Sun Drop, The Chop House and Which Wich Superior Sandwiches.
Event attendees sampled the wide variety of culinary creations and cast their votes for top honors in categories including: ‘Best Appetizer/ Salad’, ‘Best Entrée’, Best Dessert’, ‘Best Booth’ and ‘Best Kids zone Activity’. Restaurants receiving awards are:
Best Appetizer/ Salad- First place: Jason’s Deli
Finalists: Puleo’s Grille and Chuy’s
Best Entrée - First Place: The Chop House
Finalists: Fulin’s Asian Cuisine and Jason’s Deli
Best Dessert- First Place: Gigi’s Cupcakes
Finalists: Donut Country and Purity
Best Booth- First Place: Hooters
Finalists: Gateway Grill-Embassy Suites and Jason’s Deli
Best Kid's Zone Activity- First Place: Inflatables by Space Walk
Finalists: Fire Truck by Fire Truck Promotions and Shaved Ice by Funky Munky
“We’re grateful to the sponsors, restaurants and thousands of attendees who helped to make this year’s event such a great success,” said June Bilbo, Taste of Stones River Committee Chair. “All proceeds will benefit the Primary Care and Hope Clinic in Murfreesboro. “
Event sponsors include: Coke, Middle Tennessee Medical Center, World Outreach Church, Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of Tennessee Community Trust, Murfreesboro Medical Clinic, Pinnacle Bank, The Avenue Murfreesboro, Publix Super Markets Riverview Family Chiropractic and Anti- Aging Body and Face Medical Cosmetic Center.
The Primary Care and Hope Clinic is a non-profit healthcare clinic that provides quality, affordable family health services for medically uninsured, underserved, Medicare and Medicaid families in Rutherford County and the surrounding area. Taste of Stones River raised more than $56,000 for the clinic.
“As the need for uninsured medical services continues to rise, the Primary Care and Hope Clinic relies even more on donations and support from the community,” said Lisa Terry, Primary Care and Hope Clinic CEO. “The funds raised through the Taste of Stones River will help us continue to provide medical care to uninsured and underserved families and will also help us meet the growing demand for additional services.”
Additional services currently provided by the Primary Care and Hope Clinic include: expanded pediatric outreach through the Mobile Health Unit, operation of a satellite clinic, Hope II, in the Franklin Heights Housing Authority, Behavioral Health counseling, Diabetes counseling and education and Breast Cancer education and screening.

Fenton Payne and Fred 5k
The 8th annual Fenton Payne & Fred 5K, honoring Dr.
Fenton Payne Hardison & Dr. Fred R. Lovelace took placeat MTSU on August
20, 2011. A portion of the proceeds from the 5k run/ walk will
benefit the Primary Care and Hope Clinic.
Primary Care and Hope Clinic Summer Luau 2010
On Saturday, August 21st, the Primary Care and Hope Clinic hosted what has become our signature event, the popular summer Luau. The evening featured a casual dinner from B. McNeel’s and dancing to music provided by Bobby Howard. Guests mingled with friends, went on tours of the facility and enjoyed tasty barbeque and mia tia’s. Despite the rain, it was a smashing success and raised more than $49,000!
