Primary Care & Hope Clinic Receives Donation from Local Artist

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (November 5, 2013) – The Primary Care & Hope Clinic has received a custom oil painting of the clinic from Murfreesboro artist John Smith.   Smith created the piece, titled “Pillars of Hope”, and donated it to the clinic in gratitude for the care his father has received as a clinic patient.

“I am amazed at the love that is given to folks who have virtually nothing, in terms of health care,” said Smith.   “There’s no way that I will be able to thank them enough for the care that they gave my father.  They saved his life.  My donation of the painting is just my attempt to scratch the surface.”

Several years ago, Smith brought his father, who was uninsured, to the Primary Care & Hope Clinic after he had been sick for some time.  His father was subsequently diagnosed with lung cancer and given only months to live.   The Primary Care & Hope Clinic coordinated affordable care for him so he could receive cancer treatment.    Today, his cancer is in remission.  “In a very real sense, had it not been for the kindness and caring of the folks here at the Primary Care & Hope Clinic, my cancer might not be in remission. I am supremely grateful for them,” said John Smith, Sr.

“We are very grateful for such a meaningful and inspirational gift,” states Lisa Terry, Primary Care & Hope Clinic CEO.  “This piece of art is a beautiful reflection of our mission of Hope and Healing for All.”
