Volunteer Requirements
Professional Volunteer Opportunities

Physicians: To provide medical or surgical care to the uninsured of Rutherford County. All specialties welcome and hours to be determined by the provider.
- Current M.D., D.O., or DPM license within the state of Tennessee.
- Carries malpractice insurance, either through SVMIC or other authorized provider
- Retired physicians can obtain malpractice coverage through SVMIC for $100 if previously covered by SVMIC.
- Nurse practitioner or physician's assistant: To provide primary care to the uninsured of Rutherford County. Hours to be determined by the volunteer.
- Current Tennessee license and certification
- Agreement from the volunteer's physician preceptor for volunteer services to the patients of the Primary Care & Hope Clinic.
- Registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, EMT, or medical assistant: To provide professional services such as vital signs, patient-intake information, patient education, discharge instructions, and clinical assistance to the volunteer physician, practitioner, or PA during exams. Hours to be determined by the volunteer as well as clinic's staffing needs.
- Current Tennessee license or certification in area of education
- Previous experience in patient care or currently enrolled in licensed educational program to obtain degree or certification (ie: currently enrolled in nursing school).
